BACKGROUND

Integer Holdings Corporation is a global medical device manufacturer and developer providing medical device companies with comprehensive product development and product transfer processes. Its technology and manufactured components can be found in almost every global medical device brand.

Integer’s commitment to manufacturing excellence ensures medical devices get to market faster with uncompromising reliability and quality.

CHALLENGES

Integer is a global organization with multiple sites around the world. Though the company was using a CMMS before switching to eMaint, the CMMS didn’t provide the granular data that Integer needed to fully support its operations.

Furthermore, the previous CMMS didn’t have a way to prioritize maintenance tasks. Instead of tasks being prioritized and assigned to specific workers, technicians could pick and choose preventive maintenance tasks to complete. Integer also wanted to develop more standardization across facilities and share inventories and needed a software solution to help them do so.

IMPLEMENTATION

Integer began by using eMaint at their three largest sites in the U.S. and Ireland. Between the three sites, the company tasked eMaint with tracking 5,300 assets.

During implementation, Integer staff relied heavily on the customer service and product specialists at eMaint to assist them with data mapping and migrations from their prior CMMS. They received extra support on-site by eMaint experts who provided key insights and expertise to teach Integer team members how to maximize eMaint’s features. “eMaint’s support was there to help us work through any issues,” said Torgerson.

Shifting to a new CMMS can be challenging, but eMaint’s user-friendly interfaces made it easier to make the switch. “It’s very simple to get up to speed on how to use it, and it’s intuitive,” said Torgerson.

RESULTS

After implementation, Integer saw an immediate reduction in incomplete work orders. “Since implementing eMaint, we’ve been able to assign work orders to a specific technician,” said Torgerson. “Technicians can actively see the due date and schedule their own time to get the preventive maintenance done.” Integer now boasts a work order completion rate of 99.2%.

The three Integer sites using eMaint actively share ideas and experiences on how to get even more out of eMaint’s software. “We meet on a monthly cadence and provide feedback and recommendations to each other,” said Torgerson.

The global storeroom provided by eMaint’s inventory management has increased uptime and reduced inventory costs. “As far as standardization is concerned, our three largest sites are using eMaint and can actively see each other’s inventories,” explained Torgerson. “We’re able to share parts within the organization. We might have a spare part at one site that we now can share with the sister sites. We’re providing spare parts in a timely manner and saving the company money in spare parts inventory.”

One of the biggest changes Integer has seen from using eMaint is the availability of reports and dashboards to find exactly the information they need. “The reporting module is the one we use the most and something that was previously lacking,” Torgerson said.

Collecting data with eMaint now makes audits much less challenging to manage as well. “It’s given us an efficient way to track asset history and give proof during an audit,” Torgerson said.

“At the end of the day, it’s less stress and hardship on the maintenance leaders,” he explains.

“My favorite thing about eMaint is probably the usability of the software. eMaint provides a quick, easy, user-friendly way to access data, create reports, and really tailor the data that you’re collecting to what the organization’s needs are.”
