Light Tower Rentals Passes DOT Inspections and Maximizes Efficiency through GPS Integration
Customer Since: 2014 | Industry: Oil & Gas
Light Tower Rentals provides well-site rental equipment and services to oil and gas operators. As the company grew and the number of assets increased, Light Tower Rentals sought a web-based, affordable and easy-to-use solution to manage maintenance and track assets across all locations. Since implementing eMaint, Light Tower Rentals has more information at their fingertips than ever before, and has improved efficiency, maximized productivity and more.
BACKGROUND
Headquartered in Odessa, Texas, Light Tower Rentals provides well-site rental equipment and services to oil and gas operators. Since the company’s inception in 1994, Light Tower Rentals has more than doubled in size, and expanded into 14 locations throughout the United States. The company has a variety of specialty equipment in its inventory, primarily industrial power generators, with approximately 8,700 assets across 14 offices. In 2014, Asset Management Coordinator Linda Williams was hired to implement and manage the company’s first CMMS solution.
THE CHALLENGE
Prior to eMaint, Light Tower Rentals managed maintenance on a dry erase whiteboard in their “war room.” With the company’s growth rate and increased number of assets, Light Tower Rentals sought a web-based, affordable and easy-to-use solution to manage maintenance and track assets across all locations.
IMPLEMENTATION
Light Tower Rentals chose eMaint CMMS and approached implementation on a schedule. Every six weeks, Williams and her team launched their CMMS solution at a different Light Tower Rentals location. The company also attended a Boot Camp training session, and scheduled on-site visits with a member of the eMaint Professional Services team to offer best practices and help the implementation process continue smoothly.
Another important aspect of Light Tower Rentals implementation process is their GPS integration. Light Tower Rentals installed GPS units on all engine assets to keep track of location and run hours, which are imported into eMaint at regular intervals and trigger preventive work orders based upon run-time.
RESULTS
The Light Tower Rentals team has more information at their fingertips than ever before with eMaint. Safety and consistency are top concerns for the company. The ability to attach Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Lock-Out, Tag-Out (LOTO) instructions to preventive maintenance work orders helps support these goals.
Light Tower Rentals’ GPS Integration with eMaint allows for automatic PM generation based on runtime. The software tracks the hours and costs spent on repairs and helps the team determine whether to repair or replace a piece of equipment.
MX Mobile allows technicians in the field to simply sign in to eMaint, click on their personal work orders, check off labor performed, and close out the WO with just a few clicks. Full users of the system can establish regularly scheduled PMs and for Department of Transportation (DOT) inspections.
The ease of scheduling and robust eMaint dashboards significantly improved efficiency and communication company-wide. Williams reports that her boss is amazed by the wealth of information provided by the system.
BENEFITS
“I enjoy working with eMaint, and I’m always anxious to see what else it can do. I use the dashboards to their fullest extent because there is so much information available at our fingertips, and eMaint allows us to extract this information with great ease. “
